Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix

Hot cocoa is, without a doubt, one of my favorite things about winter. Well, that and snuggling under a cozy blanket watching the snow drift about. There’s simply nothing better than that. However, as with most things, buying hot cocoa mix or packets can really add up quickly. So, of course, rather than simply giving up my favorite winter drink, I found a way to make my own cocoa mix for way less! And, as a bonus, it’s also healthier and tastes much better. Yum!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup baking cocoa (unsweet)
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions

Basically, you just need to mix it all until it is thoroughly combined—no lumps! Then, store in an airtight container.

Directions per cup

To make a cup of cocoa, combine 1/3 to 1/2 cup of the cocoa mix with hot milk or water, and stir until dissolved. Add marshmallows or whipped cream, and enjoy! It’s nice and simple, and this recipe not only uses items you probably already have, but tastes great and is easy to keep around. One batch usually makes about five or six cups, depending on how much chocolate you like in your cocoa, and how big your mugs are.
